At least two police personnel were killed and two others sustained injuries in a gun attack on their pickets here in the precincts of New Sariab Police Station, official sources confirmed. DIG Investigation Hamid Shakeel said that unknown armed men assailed a police picket in Eastern bypass area, on the suburbs of the city with sophisticated weapons.

As a result of firing, two policemen present in the picket were killed on the spot and two others sustained critical gunshots. The assailants managed to escape. Soon after the incident, police officials reached the site and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital. Further investigation was underway.
